Basic Firearms 101

  

COST:

$95 (15% Off for Members)


This introductory course is designed to be 3 hours. The goal is:

· To educate the student on the safe handling and use of a handgun.

· To inform the students of the different types of fire arms.

· Legal issues surrounding firearms. 

· Firearm care and cleaning.

Topics covered will be: 

1. Firearm safety 

2. Firearm manipulation 

3. General maintenance

4. Proper storage and use 

5. The fundamentals of marksmanship 

This course will feature classroom, simulator, and live fire exercises. This course requires that the student demonstrate the ability to utilize safe gun handling techniques while participating in a 50 round live shooting course.

Equipment Needed: None. 

On Target will provide all necessary equipment and ammunition (one box of 9 mm per person. Additional ammunition will be available for an extra charge) If a student has their own personal fire arm they are welcome to use it. Any caliber ammunition other than 9mm may require additional cost. 

Additional Materials: Students are welcome to bring pistol cleaning kit, shop rags, notepad and pen. However, they are not necessary for the class.

There will be a written examination portion of the at the end of the class time portion of the training. Passing of the class requires an 80% or better test score.

At the successful completion of this course the student will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.

   

Ladies Basic Firearms 101

  

COST:

$95 (15% Off for Members)

· To educate women on the safe handling and use of a handgun.

· To inform the students of the different types of fire arms.

· Legal issues surrounding firearms. 

· Fire arm care and cleaning.

Topics covered will be: 

1. Firearm safety

5. The fundamentals of marksmanship

Primary Pistol Course

COST:

$95 (15% off for Members)


This is an orientation program for first time hang gun owners. It's designed to provide beginning shooters with the fundamental knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for safe ownership and use of specific pistol type.


Course Outline:

1. Introduction to pistol safety, parts and operation

2.  Introduction to ammunition types, loading and unloading

3. Introduction to pistol cleaning and storage

4  Fundamentals of pistol shooting


Course Time Requirement:

3 Hours (combined classroom and range time)


Prerequisites:

No prior experience is necessary. The course is available to mature children (at least 12 years old) when attending with a parent or guardian.


Course Completion:

Students will receive feedback on the practical exercises, live fire exercises on the range and will receive course completion certificate. 

Pistol Shooting Course

COST:

$150 (15% discount for members)


DESCRIPTION:

On Target's Pistol Shooting Course provides comprehensive instruction in gun safety and handling, the various pistol types, ammunition knowledge, fundamental marksmanship, various firing positions, cleaning, storage and range etiquette. Printed course material is provided. This course includes the classroom lessons, practical exercises and range instruction formerly offered as the NRA Basic Pistol Course.


COURSE OUTLINE:

1. Pistol knowledge and safe gun handling

2. Ammunition Knowledge

3. Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting

4. Firing the first shots

5. Selecting and maintaining hand guns

6. Course Review and Examination


Course Time Requirement:

8 Hours (combined classroom, practical exercises and range time).


Prerequisites:

No prior experience is necessary. Participants must be at least 16 years old.


Course Completion:

Students will receive feedback on practical exercises, live fire exercises on the range and will receive a course certification upon successful completion of these lessons and a passing grade on the written exam.
